Feature: The Tap Dancing Princess

Kia-Lynette Carter is no average 19-year-old Clark Atlanta University Mass Media Arts sophomore from Portland, Oregon.
Carter, youngest of 3 children, became Oregon Rose Festival royalty in 2009 when she was crowned princess.
“It was really one of the most elegant nights of my life, I still remember it like it was yesterday.” Explained Carter about the night she won the honor back in her home state.
Carter is not unfamiliar with winning competitions in the state of Oregon, seeing as she was also crowded Miss Tap America in Oregon years earlier.
“I really hate tap dance with a strong passion, ironically” state Carter, noticeably a bit tickled at the thought.
When Carter is not out winning awards or in the books vigorously, she enjoys watching and making YouTube videos, styling hair, meeting new people, social networking and listening and studying music of all genres.
“I love Music, and I aspire to be a music engineer so a spend a lot of time learning the ends and outs of the music, both pre and post production.” Says Carter on her passion for music.
Upon finishing her degree at Clark Atlanta University, Carter plans on challenging herself by teaching English in the school system to get a strong foundation while giving back to children.
“It is no secret that knowledge is the key to power and I feel that while I still can relate, I need to help spread the power and I know I can do that through English.” Says Carter, who was visibly moved at the idea to spread knowledge.
Carter does not plan on teaching forever however and wants to get into the fields of publicity and musical engineering.
“Why Not do it all, I can handle it!” confidently exclaimed Carter.
Outside of work, Carter is an art lover in its broadest state, thus being able to appreciate all forms of art.
Kia draws a lot of her inspiration from her mother and sister, who has help, set a positive example in her life by demonstration how a “Carter Woman” should Act.
As a child, Kia’s favorite childhood memory included trying to convince her parents she could physically “Roll” up stairs, a feat that she never seemed to accomplish.
“Have you ever tried to roll up stairs Matty...Well maybe you’ll have better luck than I did!” said Carter at the end of our session.
The opportunity to interview Ms. KIA Carter was a pleasure and hopefully we will see her growth as time moves along.

Herschel Walker 2nd Pro MMA Fight vs Scott Carson (TKO)

Former NFL standout Herschel Walker is set to make his return to professional sports this Saturday January 29 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose California live on Showtime.

Walker will be participating in his second Mixed Martial Arts fight against fighter Scott Carson.

Walker, who was the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner and multiple time pro bowler has been practicing martial arts for 33 years and has reached the level of 5th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

The 48-year-old retired football legend has in a rigorous workout regiment, which included more focused time training in jui jet so, Mui Tai and a more polished wrestling technic.

In conference with Walker he explains the similarities between MMA training and NFL training with endurance, strength being the key elements to both sport.

Walker points out his love of competition and eagerness to perform better as the true motivation to get back into the ring after a full year and an eye injury, which was the factor leading the postponement of the fight which was originally set for December 4

When asked about the eye injury in conference Walker admits he was not ready to fight in December with the condition of the eye, but assures that he is fully healed and ready for the match.

Walker, who won his first fight last January, tell us he is in the best shape of his career and even jokes about a return to the NFL after the age of 50 “just to show them I can still do it.”

The publicity from the upcoming fight has brought about mixed feelings from fighters and enthusiast; some thinking walker is great for the sport and others that believe that the football star is tainting the art.

Anyway you look at Hershel Walker’s return to the ring will surely be something that will be talked about for a little while.
